Install flash player 10 beta 2

Flash player 10 beta 2 is out and it should perform better on Ubuntu.

Start by removing flash 9.

I just removed the file in /home/.mozilla/plugin

(.mozilla is a hidden file, press “ctrl+h” to view it (kubuntu -> “ctrl + .”))

Then copy/paste this command in a terminal.

cd /tmp
tar -zxvf flashplayer10_install_linux_070208.tar.gz
cd install_flash_player_10_linux

Make sure to close firefox when you run the script.

The flashplayer script will ask you some questions, just press “y” followed by an enter, the second time choose “n”.

That should do it.

  1. Hi…

This something has been itching me since long time…
Macromedia is taken over by adobe, and simply redirects to

Second, I could not find any links on adobe’s website that led to flash beta downloads.

Moreover, the links “”, “”, “” gave me no directory listing (only a 404 error). BUT, “” contains a downloadable file.
