Today I installed hardy on my laptop, after having it in and out of the repair shop and I decided it could be usefull to put all the things I had to do in 1 post.
This post is mostly for myself, but others could find it interesting.

It did for me.
The upgrade to linux 2.6.24-18-generic kernel broke my internet.
Network manager was unable to find any device to connect to the internet.
It’s bug #237335 for ubuntu.
If something like this were to happen for you, simply pick the previous kernel in the grub.
And all should be good.
The bug you are having could be fixed soon and then you could use the newest kernel.
Some people don’t like the gnome menu Ubuntu uses.
Ubuntu wouldn’t be linux if there weren’t a million and one other menus out there.
One of the better ones is USP (ubuntu system panel).
It’s the same kind of panel linux mint uses.
Installation notes (some copy paste work) are found here.
